Breelib, staying away from home and travel

The Breelib nebuliser and associated patient support materials will help you to fit taking Ventavis (iloprost trometamol) into your everyday life. This area of the website will provide you with helpful information if you are away from home or travelling with Breelib.

For general information about travelling with pulmonary hypertension you can visit the PHA UK’s (patient organisation) website travel pages at: www.phocusonlifestyle.org/category/travelling-with-ph/.

If you are planning to travel on holiday always speak with your treating Centre and always make sure you have adequate insurance cover in relation to your condition.

Using Breelib away from home

THE CARRY CASE

The carry case will protect Breelib from damage. When you are not using Breelib, the device should be stored in the carry case supplied in the Breelib Starter Pack.

The mouthpiece should be attached to the base unit, as you would when you are putting Breelib together, before securing inside the case using the elasticated straps.

The nebuliser unit should then be placed in the space allocated to the left of the storage compartment.

THE BREELIB MEDICAL DEVICE QUICK REFERENCE (QRC)

The Breelib Medical Device QRC provides the user with a helpful reminder about important aspects of using, charging and caring for Breelib.

The QRC also holds information which can be helpful when you are using Breelib in public areas. If you are ever questioned by an official or a member of the public about why you are using Breelib, the QRC can be presented to provide information about the purpose of the device, without sharing any specific details about your condition.

If further clarification is needed by a public official, please provide the contact details for the Bayer medical information department which can be found on the back cover.

Please note that this document is supplied by your healthcare professional and has been adapted from the version supplied in your Breelib Starter Pack. Please ensure you store the updated version in your Breelib carry case.

HE STORAGE COMPARTMENT

The storage compartment inside the carry case can be used to keep a tray of six ampoules from a box of Ventavis along with two ampoule opening devices and two pipettes in case something happens to one set.

The four plastic edges from around the tray of ampoules should be carefully cut away with scissors to ensure a good fit inside the compartment.

Inside of the lid of the carry case is a net pocket which allows you to store important documents relating to Breelib. It is advised to keep the Breelib Medical Device Quick Reference Card in the net pocket at all times.

SETTING UP BREELIB WHEN AWAY FROM HOME

You should always set up Breelib and fill the nebuliser unit on a flat surface. When you are out and about and need to take a dose, the carry case can be opened up on your lap and used as a flat surface.

Keep the base unit and mouthpiece secured in the case with the elasticated straps whilst you attached the nebuliser unit and fill Breelib with drug.

Once Breelib is ready to be turned ON, remove the device from the elasticated straps and keep it as flat as possible to stop drug from moving around inside.
