ZeroWater®

The manufacturer of Breelib recommends the use of distilled water to care for Breelib. For full instructions, please refer to the Breelib Inhalation System Instructions for Use booklet (IFU) which is supplied in your Breelib Starter Pack.

The minerals in normal tap water or bottled water will leave behind a chalky residue if used to care for Breelib. This will block the tiny holes in the metal disc on the nebuliser unit, just as dried up drug residue would.

When you start using Breelib your treating centre will provide you with a ZeroWater filter jug for the sole purpose of caring for Breelib. ZeroWater is a practical alternative to distilled water. The ZeroWater filter will remove the minerals in tap or bottled water that can clog up the nebuliser unit.

Normal household water filters do not work in the same way as the ZeroWater filter and should not be used as a substitute.

When making ZeroWater, filtering boiled water which has cooled down will make the filtered water more sterile than if the water had not been boiled. Rinsing the nebuliser unit with ZeroWater immediately after you finish taking each dose will prevent the tiny holes on the metal disc from becoming blocked by leftover drug or chalky residue.

Do not store your ZeroWater jug and filtered water in direct sunlight.

Testing your tap water

The purity of the tap water in your area will affect how often you will need to change the ZeroWater filter. To measure the purity of your tap water:

  1. Fill a clean glass with tap water
  2. Remove the blue cap from the water meter
  3. Press the ON/OFF button on the water meter to turn it ON
  4. Place the open end in the glass of tap water

You will get a 3-number readout on the water meter.
The reading in the example image is 253 but your reading may be different.

Replacement ZeroWater filters

Every month, the Breelib Support Centre will send you a replacement filter in the standard post. If you find that you are needing to replace your filter more often please let them know.

When to change the ZeroWater filter

You should regularly test your ZeroWater with the blue water meter which was supplied with your ZeroWater jug. When you get a reading of 007 you should change your filter immediately. If you do not have a replacement ZeroWater filter you should call the Breelib Support Centre as soon as possible and continue to use the current filter until the new one arrives. You should never use tap, bottled or ordinary filtered water.

Should the water meter become lost or damaged please call the Breelib Support Centre who will arrange a replacement.

To learn more about testing the purity of your ZeroWater watch the short video tutorial and review the information in this section.

Meter reading

You should need no more than 70 litres of ZeroWater to care for Breelib each month. The table below shows how many litres of ZeroWater a new filter will make based on the purity of the tap water in your area. If your tap water meter reading is over 200 you may need to change your filter more than once a month.

Test your ZeroWater regularly and as soon as it reads more than 006 change the filter immediately.
