Cleaning the nebuliser unit and mouthpiece
You should clean the nebuliser unit and mouthpiece as often as is required but at least at the end of every week, before disinfecting the parts. You should clean the parts after finishing your last dose of the day.

There is no need to rinse the nebuliser unit and mouthpiece if you intend to clean them immediately after you have finished taking your dose. Leftover drug should still be emptied out of the nebuliser unit.
The manufacturer of Breelib recommends the use of distilled water to care for Breelib. For full instructions, please refer to the Breelib Inhalation System Instructions for Use booklet (IFU) which is supplied in your Breelib Starter Pack.
To clean the nebuliser unit and mouthpiece:
- Take Breelib apart and move the base unit out of the way so it does not get wet
- Open the cap of the nebuliser unit and empty out leftover drug
- Fill a clean bowl with ZeroWater directly from the filter jug
- Add a small amount of normal washing up liquid and mix with the ZeroWater. Do not use washing-up liquid which has added skin creams or disinfectants
- Place the mouthpiece and nebuliser unit with the cap open and the drug-dosing system up into the bowl, making sure they are covered by water
- Flush out the nebuliser unit by closing and opening the cap underneath the water at least twice
- Leave the cap open and drug-dosing system up on the nebuliser unit and leave them in the bowl
- Use a soft clean cloth or disinfecting wipe to clean the plastic surfaces of both parts
- Do not touch the metal disc underneath the nebuliser unit during cleaning
- Leave the nebuliser unit and mouthpiece in the water for 5 minutes, occasionally stirring with your hand

After cleaning
After cleaning it is important to thoroughly rinse the nebuliser unit and mouthpiece to remove any cleaning water. You can find more information on rinsing here.
If it is not the end of the week and you are not boiling (disinfecting) the nebuliser unit and mouthpiece after cleaning, the nebuliser unit and mouthpiece should be left to air dry overnight.

At the end of each week, you should boil (disinfect) the nebuliser unit and mouthpiece immediately after cleaning. If boiling the parts after cleaning, there is no need to allow them to air dry but the parts should be thoroughly rinsed with ZeroWater.

Things to remember when cleaning the nebuliser unit and mouthpiece
- Clean the nebuliser unit and mouthpiece as often as is needed but at least once a week before boiling
- Only use ZeroWater and a small amount of normal washing-up liquid
- Do not use too much washing-up liquid as this can block the tiny holes on the metal disc
- Never use washing–up liquid with skin creams or disinfectants
- Never use anything that can cause damage when cleaning the nebuliser unit or mouthpiece
- Check for signs of damage when cleaning the nebuliser unit and mouthpiece
- There is no need to rinse the nebuliser unit and mouthpiece BEFORE cleaning
- Always empty out leftover drug from the nebuliser unit before cleaning
- Thoroughly rinse the nebuliser unit and mouthpiece with ZeroWater AFTER cleaning
- There is no need to air dry the nebuliser unit and mouthpiece if you boil immediately after cleaning
